Culture plays a significant role in balancing my technical studies. When I am not configuring routers or studying network protocols, I love to immerse myself in stories. My favorite genre is definitely Science Fiction, as it often explores the consequences of the technology I study every day.
Regarding books, I am a big fan of "Neuromancer" by William Gibson. It is the book that practically invented the concept of "cyberspace". The way Gibson describes the matrix and hackers was visionary for the 1980s. Reading it now, as a cybersecurity student, is fascinating because we can see the roots of modern ethical hacking culture.
For movies, "The Matrix" remains my absolute favorite. Beyond the special effects, it poses philosophical questions about reality and control. Another favorite is the series "Mr. Robot". It is one of the few shows that portrays hacking realistically. Elliot Alderson’s journey resonates with me, not just for the tech, but for the psychological depth. These stories inspire me to think about the ethics behind the code we write.
